Split Support

Split cuts a video or audio file into parts under 20MB, on your iPhone. You can join clips, save into a Photos album, or share from the app. If a clip is already under 20MB, Split does not cut it.

Quick start

  1. Open Split. Use Split to cut, or Join to stitch clips together.
  2. For Split: pick Video or Audio, choose an album or type a new album name. Audio has no album. You share those parts instead.
  3. Tap Split and leave the app open until it finishes. Share the parts, or open Photos and send them from the album.
  4. For Join: add two or more videos, or two or more audio files, tap Join, then share or save.

Common questions

A chat app rejected the file. Send the parts as a File if the app offers File or Video. Some apps take a few seconds to finish a batch.

A part is still over 20MB. In Photos, share a lower quality copy of the original, then split that copy.

The clip is already under 20MB. Split will not cut it. Send the original as it is.

Bookmark stills. If Bookmark every 10 parts is on and a split makes 11 or more video parts, Split also saves a still after 10, 20, 30 so you can see where each batch ended. Those stills are photos. Join skips them.

The phone said storage is tight. Free up space in iOS Settings, General, then iPhone Storage, and try again.

Photos access is Limited. Split can only save into Recents until you turn on Full Access in iOS Settings.
